Aaron Porter has spent 18 years in the trade and has been a member of UA Local 290 since beginning his apprenticeship as an industrial steamfitter in 2008.
His experience includes working in fabrication shops, commercial hydronic systems, schools, hospitals, paper mills, chemical facilities, and semiconductor manufacturing, with extensive experience designing, fabricating, and installing all types of pipe. He has also earned certifications in hand welding, orbital welding, and thermoplastics fusion.
Aaron has worked on all of the Intel campuses throughout Local 290’s jurisdiction, spending much of his career at Intel Ronler Acres. His work there has included supporting crews responsible for mitigating unplanned shutdowns of critical systems in hazardous environments, with experience ranging from working in the field to serving as a general foreman.
Aaron also spent more than a year as a full-time instructor at the Local 290 Training Center, where he taught apprentices and helped develop curriculum for the High-Tech section of the apprenticeship program, including tube bending, orbital welding, and detailing.
“I feel the individuals on this team are a collective representation of the whole of Local 290, with experience and expertise in all facets of the trades we represent.”
Aaron believes Local 290 is strongest when members with different experiences and backgrounds come together with a shared purpose.
He chose to stand with Team Joe because he believes this team brings together the knowledge and experience needed to rebuild the unity within our local and strengthen Local 290 for the future.
One of Aaron’s biggest priorities is making sure every member of Local 290 has representation and a voice at the table.
Aaron also believes Local 290 needs to address the divisions that have held the union back and focus on the issues that will strengthen its future.
He believes that by investing in our members, rebuilding unity, and addressing the challenges facing our local, Local 290 can strengthen its financial future and protect its market share in a changing work environment.
Every member represented.
A united membership.
A stronger Local 290.
Aaron’s life isn’t all pipefitting and high-tech work.
When he isn’t working or serving Local 290, you’ll most likely find him working on something with tires, riding motorcycles, or traveling with his wife, Katri.
For Aaron, time away from the job is about enjoying the things he loves and making the most of the time he has outside of work.
