OUR PRIORITIES

A Team Approach. A Stronger Voice for Every Member.

Local 290 is strongest when we work together. Our team believes in leadership that listens, communicates openly, plans for the future, and puts members first.

Our goal is to strengthen our union, restore meaningful member involvement, and build a culture of cooperation between the membership, the training center, contractors, and union leadership.

1. A Team That Works Together

Build a unified leadership team focused on serving members. Strengthen cooperation between the union hall and training center to better support the membership.

2. Listen to Members and Restore Their Voice

Members deserve leadership that takes their concerns seriously, communicates clearly, and follows through on the issues that matter to them.

Local 290 belongs to its membership. Members should have meaningful opportunities to share their perspectives and participate in decisions that affect their union, their careers, and their future.

3. Respect Our Traditions While Planning for the Future

Respect the established practices that serve members, and make improvements thoughtfully with clear explanation and member involvement.

4. Be Proactive, Not Reactive

Anticipate challenges instead of waiting for problems to develop. Plan ahead, identify opportunities, and address concerns early.

We must take initiative to protect our jurisdiction, expand work opportunities, strengthen our training programs, and prepare Local 290 for the changing needs of our industry.

5. Encourage Open and Accessible Committees

Promote meaningful member participation in committees and union activities. Encourage qualified members to get involved, share their experience, and contribute to the decisions that shape our local.

An engaged membership makes our union stronger. Members should have opportunities to participate, contribute, and help shape the future of Local 290, consistent with applicable rules and responsibilities.

6. Put Members First in Contractor Relations

Maintain productive working relationships with our signatory contractors while keeping the interests of our members at the center of every decision.

Working constructively with contractors should help protect our wages and benefits, preserve our jurisdiction, maintain industry standards, and create more opportunities for our members.

Our responsibility is to work with contractors for the benefit of our members—not simply for the benefit of contractors.

7. Representation That Serves Every Area

Make business agents accessible, responsive, and accountable, with attention to the specific needs of the areas they serve.

ONE LOCAL. ONE TEAM. ONE SHARED PURPOSE.

A stronger Local 290 starts with leadership that listens, works together, plans ahead, and remains accountable to the membership.

Our commitment is simple: Put members first, strengthen our union, and build a better future together.
